Meet Kari

Kari Dorry is a mom, teacher, union organizer, and community advocate who believes caring for one another is what makes strong communities possible. As a special education teacher, she has spent her career supporting children and families, helping students succeed, and making sure every person feels seen, valued, and included.

As a parent, Kari understands the everyday challenges families face- balancing work and family life, finding affordable childcare, supporting schools, and simply trying to make ends meet. Those experiences shape her commitment to practical, people-focused leadership.

Kari is running because she believes it’s time to calm the chaos and focus on what truly matters: supporting families, strengthening schools, and building communities where people feel connected and supported. She believes politics should bring people together to solve problems, not divide neighbors against one another.

Kari is running to bring compassion, stability, and community-focused leadership to the Capitol.

Moments That Matter

Campaigns are about people, not politics. From parades and coffee shops to school events and community conversations, here are some moments from the trail as we show up, listen, and build something better together.

Values

Caring for Families and Communities

Strong communities start with people feeling supported and connected. Kari believes everyone deserves access to affordable childcare, strong public schools, accessible healthcare, and the resources they need to thrive- whether they’re raising children, caring for loved ones, working hard to make ends meet, or building a life in their community. As a mom and educator, she understands the everyday pressures people face and will work to make life more affordable while building communities where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and supported.

Affordability & Economic Stability

Too many Minnesotans are working hard and still struggling to keep up with rising costs. Kari focuses on practical solutions that help people make ends meet by lowering everyday costs, supporting workers and small businesses, and protecting programs that families, seniors, and communities rely on. She believes everyone should have a fair chance to get ahead no matter their background or circumstances.

Community, Compassion & Respect

Kari believes we can calm the chaos by leading with compassion and treating people with respect. She is committed to bringing people together, listening to communities, and creating a government that works for everyone, not just the loudest voices. That includes supporting farmers, small towns, workers, and local businesses that are the backbone of our communities.

Protecting Our Future
Kari believes we have a responsibility to care for the land, water, and communities we share. She supports practical solutions that protect Minnesota’s natural resources while supporting farmers and rural communities. Kari believes we need to strengthen our economy, support agriculture, and protect the outdoors for future generations.
Fair Taxation & Shared Responsibility
Kari believes Minnesota works best when everyone pays their fair share, including the wealthiest individuals and large corporations. By closing tax loopholes and making the system more fair, we can invest in what matters most like affordable childcare, strong schools, healthcare, and support for working families, seniors, and farmers.
